Back from Coova to DD-WRT
« on: January 30, 2010, 07:25:02 am »
In search for a special solution with COOVA (latest version) I am stranded with my Linksys WRT GL.
I set up the hotspot and it was working fine, but not on WDS. After I changed chilli from WLAN to WLAN and LAN, I have no acces to the rooter any longer, neither by LAN, WAN and WLAN. Of couse I tried it with fixed IP in the LAN range and in the WAN range. I even observed the starting fase with constant ping to the respective addresses: Nothing.

Now what brings be to light panic, the 30/30/30 reset of DD-WRT does not bring any effect. Searching "hardware rest" for coova does not bring a solution. I don't think, it is possible, that a firmware comes without hardware reset. Any suggestion.

And then the way back: If I get access to the rooter again, is it possible to flash DD-WRT v.23sp2 directly. In the firmware update section it reads: only coova.

Hoping for help
P.

Hi

Before switching to LAN+WLAN, did you configure a WAN fixed ip address and enable web admin from WAN port?
Switch to LAN+WLAN must be done from the WAN port.
This is mandatory.

You should have the tftp method working for flashing the firmware you want.

You have to get the correct timing. A infinite ping to 192.168.1.1 during the boot will tell you when the router will be able to accept the tftp connection.
Your PC should be configured in the 192.168.1.x subnet. (ip like 192.168.1.2_

I think you should still have a try with coova. Then switch to v23sp2.

Thank you very much. After some hours all of a sudden the router was accessible again and I opened all gates, which were closed by default: admin by WAN and boot delay. That means: OpenWRT and Coova do not know a hardware reset?? This is like an high wire artist without security net. That is not my world!
But I give it some tries, before I go back.
Do you know, if it is possible to flash DD-WRT v.23 or DD-WRT v.23 mini from the browser or do I have to go the tfp way?

Rgds.

You should then revert factory settings and reset (power off) several times.
