Can I use modem in bridge mode or must it be router mode?
« on: October 04, 2006, 08:58:15 pm »
Hi again

I'm using route sentry (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=39234&highlight=route+sentry) to make two PPPoE connections to the internet...

My question is would this work for chillispot or must the modem make the connection to the internet?

When I enabled separate wifi from lan bridge my client pc's didnt recieve an ip
When I disabled separate wifi from lan bridge my client pc's did receive an ip!

My pc makes the PPPoE connections and by separating it from the Wlan could it cause the client pc's to not receive internet?

Thanks

I don't see why it wouldn't work. Where is this running? on another pc?

You should explain your setup a little more. Is your pc wired or wireless?
what is the ip you received? is it a chillispot ip? (192.168.182.x)
Is chillispot working for wireless clients?
do you see the welcome page?

My pc is wired to the linksys wrt54gl and is making the 2x PPPoE connections... I use ICS to share the internet.....

If i set a wireless client to obtain an ip automatically....... I get an automatic private address (169.254.37.158)
If I set my pc/any wired client to obtain an ip automatically........ I still get an automatic private address( 169.254.37.158)

Chilli obviously isnt assigning an auto ip address!!! What could be the cause?
