Login confusion
« on: Yesterday at 11:17:25 am »
It seem to me potentially confusing that the Worldspot splash page has 2 logins and an option to "register" with Worldspot.
I've always thought that a welcome/splash/landing page should be as simple as possible, only containing information that is needed to connect to the Internet.
I think that access to Hotspot administration should be removed from the landing page, administrators and enquirers could easliy register on the Worldspot website, and the link to the site doesn't confuse Hotspot users.

Hi

The worldspot default landing page will be simplified.

Today you simply have to create a custom landing page (in the hotspot configuration)
Then, disable options "Hotspot require validated users" and "Allow users to validate their email during 5 min"
You must only setup ticket profiles, then you will have only a simple single login.

I'm pleased to hear that !
I've played around with the landing page but I find I'm not able to hide this:-

Identification
Login              Password
Registered users login (button)    Click here to register

All I need to show is a series of Paypal buttons......

paypal automaticaly activates registration
Once registered, the user doesn't have to remember its tickets, as they are associated with its account.
Email validation is not mandatory with paypal.

There could be an option disabling this feature.

Yes, I think the Paypal transaction id is the best way of identifying users....
Then manual registration is no longer required.
How can the registration content be removed?
Maybe I need to activate a subscription first....?

The generated ticket login is the paypal user first name + last name
A 4 digit password is generated.

The registration cannot yet be removed with paypal. I have to add an option.

No subscription is needed to make paypal work.

I hope it's fairly straightforward for you to implement this.

I did use WS in the past, and I know that many users were confused by the "registered users" login and the "session" login.
It was one of the reasons I went with another provider.

The other was that I was using Open-Mesh access points, and there was an issue with multi subscriptions.
If I understand correctly this issue is now resolved.

Implementing it is easy.
The problem is more with people already using this feature.

Maybe I would add an option "no user registration"
