I have now implemented Chiilispot/worldspot using these two methods:
1) WRT54GL (4 MB Flash) + OpenWRT
2) WRT54GL (4 MB Flash) + DD-WRT
The big problem I hit with DD-WRT is that there is no flash memory available as virtual disk for me to write my own files. e.g. a 'Welcome.html' that unauthenticated users see first. This is documented at
www.dd-wrt.org with 4 MB boxes .. there is simply not enough room left in flash memory.
Yes - I know that Worldspot allows you to edit PART of the 1st Worldspot screen .. but not 100%. I want to offer my customers a 'splash screen' that advertises the motel/cafe/etc in a totally customised way.
So....if you do NOT want a fully customised splash screen: DD-WRT is easiest. Otherwise I prefer OpenWRT.
