BAN a MAC address
« on: June 09, 2008, 02:55:51 am »

Hi Worldspot.

Is it possible to ban a MAC Address!!!

We seem to have a young guy that was able to get his hands on the ticket file at one of the Caravan Parks.

We are not sure how many ticket numbers that he has jotted down. Now we are aware of what is happening I just delete the ticket.

It would be nice to send a nasty gram back :-)  or at least ban the MAC on all of our hotspots.

It might be possible to do this at the firmware side, but I don't really know how.
I think development coova has a new feature for this, but there are so many things to be implemented before...

There are two places to ban a MAC address in DD-WRT: one in the Access Policies page, and one in the Wireless (Radio) page.

If you run another AP connected via ethernet, the Radio page would only ban the MAC at the local AP, not the remote one.

The Access Policies page should ban the MAC from being a client anywhere on the network.

In the instance of tickets being compromised, since you think he copied
some down rather than photocopied them. Just delete all or most of them
and create a run of new tickets.

(Of course that's easy for me to say as I use the unlimited tickets plan)
